Pu’er tea is mainly produced in Xishuangbanna , Yunnan . The tea transportation routes are mainly from Banna to Simao , then from Simao to Pu’er , and from Pu’er to Dali . The locations listed above are also the main tea production areas . The cultivation of tea trees in these producing areas has a long history , among which Yiwu Town in Mengla used to be one of the ” six tea mountains ” . There is an ancient tea tree in Qianjiazhai , Zhenruan County , Simao City . It has a history of 2,700 years and is the oldest known tea tree in the world . Pu’er is a famous tea town in Pu’er city , and Pu’er tea is named after it . In the past , these teas were mainly sold to Tibet and Southeast Asia , but now Pu’er tea has been sold all over the world .
Our first stop is to go to one of the Pu’er tea producing areas , Xishuangbanna , to experience the tropical atmosphere of nature , and Xishuangbanna is also the starting point of the Ancient Tea Horse Road .
Jinghong is the capital of Xishuangbanna . It is an important city in Yunnan Province and Southeast Asia . It has a history of more than 800 years . Jinghong means ” City of Dawn ” in Dai language . At least 13 ethnic minorities live in Jinghong , so Jinghong is also a gathering place for many ethnic groups .
To get to Xishuangbanna , we have to transfer to Kunming , Yunnan . There are two ways to get from Kunming to Xishuangbanna , one is by plane and the other is by bus . It is 520 kilometers from Kunming to Jinghong in Xishuangbanna . The flight time is 45 minutes , and it takes about 8 to 10 hours by bus . In addition , there are direct flights of Jinghong in some major cities in China , such as Beijing , Shanghai , Tianjin , Guangzhou , Chengdu and other cities .
The first stop after arriving in Jinghong is to go to tea mountain . We can go directly from Jinghong to Mengla . The two places are separated by more than 170 kilometers . If you are interested , You can also go to the Yexiang Valley in Banna , from Jinghong to Yexiang Valley 98 kilometers away .
